Gemtek Delivers New mmWave FWA to Leading Indian Telecom Operator, Shaping the Future of WoMT Standards
Hsinchu, Taiwan — Gemtek Technology announced that its latest 5G mmWave Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) product, a cutting-edge solution, is now en route to a leading Indian telecom operator, where it will be widely deployed in upcoming network rollouts. This milestone further expands Gemtek’s footprint in the global high-speed broadband market.
The Wi-Fi over mmWave Technology (WoMT) used in the FWA is one of the latest innovations independently developed by Gemtek. This breakthrough leverages mmWave to carry Wi-Fi signals without relying on costly conventional 5G infrastructure and integrates a high-performance RF design with Smart Beamforming Antenna Array technology to deliver a high-speed, low-latency, long-range solution with clear cost advantages. Compared with 3GPP standard 5G architecture, WoMT offers extraordinary benefits in spectrum licensing, deployment flexibility, and cost control, enabling rapid network coverage expansion in both densely populated urban areas and remote regions.
Seizing this unprecedented opportunity, Gemtek Technology is collaborating with a leading Indian telecom operator and who work with the Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) under India’s Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to establish benchmark standards and specifications for WoMT technology. This partnership will help accelerate the adoption and large-scale deployment of such technology across both global fixed and mobile broadband markets.
Gemtek Technology stated, “The official launch of our mmWave FWA product, together with our partnership in developing WoMT standards, underscores our strong R&D capabilities and global competitiveness in the field of high-frequency communication technologies. We remain committed to driving innovation in mmWave, Wi-Fi 7, Open RAN, and next-generation wireless access technologies, providing flexible, high-performance solutions to telecom operators worldwide.”
